M1940 Luftwaffe paratrooper splinter camouflage converted step-in smock
Description
Very nice and rare M1940 Luftwaffe paratrooper splinter camouflage converted step-in smock. The smock retains strong and vibrant colors. Some use and fading along the front but otherwise remains in very good shape color wise. All zippers present and functioning. Manufactured by the well known firm « RAPID » and retaining their light brown and black leather pull tabs. Snaps all are present as well and function perfectly. The snaps along the cuffs and leg area show use with the finish almost gone exposing the brass metal, marked « PRYM6 ». Internal wind cuffs are all present as well. Smock retains its original factory produced early green backed Luftwaffe eagle. The eagle is really nicely machine zig-zag stitched and probably not war time done. The use of grünmeliert material scraps was used when the smock was converted and features some nice sections in all green fabric. Smock is maker marked « Ristow - Berlin » and dated « L.B.A. 40 », size is illegible but the smock looks to be a medium size. A rare and desirable smock with strong colors that is difficult to find in this condition.
