M38 paratrooper « normandy » camouflage combat helmet, « FJR6 »
Exceptional M1938 Paratrooper « Fallschirmjäger » combat helmet in « Normandy » camouflage. The helmet is a late « ckl68 » with an unreadable lot number. The helmet's exterior features the best known late typical Regiment 6 « Normandy » camouflage finish we are aware of. A mixture of standard green and tan paint with heavier sawdust. It covers over 98% of the helmets surface. Retains a rough and matte feel. All four late aluminum spanner bolts are intact, complete and untouched. The helmet's interior remains in its untouched and as found state. Featuring a late war « RBNr. » marked leather liner. Some flaking along the front. Clearly stamped and also named to the former soldier « Ojg. Helmet Franke ». Chinstraps from late type leather are partially present and cut. Probably a helmet removed from the fallen soldier. The liner shows some possible blood damage along the wearer's left side. The band and rubber padding remain complete with plenty of debris and natural accumulating over the years. This type of camouflage helmet are the textbook type for the formations location and fighting in The Netherlands / Holland area after the defeat and ultimate retreat from the Normandy Front in September of 1944.
