M40 Heer single decal combat helmet, « woodwork find / untouched »
Description
A classic M1940 Heer single combat helmet. The helmet is an « EF66 » with a lot number of « 2156 ». The helmet's exterior is dusty, oxidation nicely all over yet remains in its untouched natural state. Only recently sourced out of the woodwork in Germany. Retains the vast majority of its factory applied rough feldgrau finish rating at 75%. Heer decal is present and shows some natural decay over time. It rates at over 80% with all the major aspects easily identifiable. Split pins are present, complete and tightly secured to the helmet even after all these decades. They have aged differently yet still retain most of their painted finish. Some light scuffs and minor scrapes present. The helmet's interior is complete, untouched and in its natural as-found state. Nice condition leather is still present. Crisply marked with the size « 58 » and inscribed in pen to the former owner « JONAS ». Leather chinstrap present, complete and still flexible. Some as to be expected light oxidation on the rivets yet all there. Maker marked along the tip. Drawstring is complete and still holding the liner tongues in place. Some remnants of an old German newspaper at the dome that has been deteriorating with time is still present. Natural material and various inert critters along the liner band and helmet shell can be seen as well. Overall a hard to find classic untouched Heer combat helmet. A true time capsule.
