M40 Heer tan spray camouflage helmet, « Tunis / Nord Afrika »
Exceptional M1940 Heer single decal tan spray camouflage combat helmet. The helmet is an « EF64 » with lot number « 818 ». The helmets exterior features a subtle light spray camouflage « Deutsches Afrikakorps » dark tan paint. The helmet is matte in textured and remains undisturbed in its original as found state. Split pins are secured tightly and never disturbed. A really nice Heer decal can be seen ghosting and coming through the camouflage paint finish. Normal use to the exterior with paint loss in some areas and some light oxidation. The helmets interior is untouched and undisturbed, as one would expect from a woodwork found piece. The liner is complete, fairly supple and in choice condition. The chinstrap is original to the helmet complete and untouched. Liner is ink stamped with size « 56 » and drawstring remains untied. The helmet is exceptionally named in a stylized font with white paint along the back skirt. Named and feldpost marked to « Uffz. Spangenberg. 12149 ». Feldpost number 12149 was initially a « Schützen-Regiment » but became a « Panzergrenadier-Regiment » based in Tunis, North Africa around 1943. This particular helmet was recovered direct from the woodwork in Italy several years ago and is the first time offered to the market. A choice untouched named « Deutsches Afrikakorps » tan camouflage combat helmet. Top shelf helmet with a true connection to the desert campaign of « NORD AFRIKA ».
