US Army Reversible Parka
Description
An early cold climate garment with an olive drab and a white snow camouflage side. (A removable liner could be added). The reversible parka closed with a zipper and a buttoned front. Fully functional and manufactured by « TALON ». It has two slanted pockets and two large patch pockets with flaps below the waist, on the light tan side only. Snaps located on the front panels could be used to gather the hem around the legs. The hood could be made less conspicuous thanks to snaps at the back. This new pattern developed in 1942 replaced the older 1941-vintage sheepskin or alpaca lined parka type overcoat. This parka is in roughly a size « 38 » and has its QM label present but washed out. A scarcer parka that show use during the « Battle of the Bulge » winter of 1944.
