USM1 35th Infantry Division combat helmet and liner
A very nice USM1 front seam fixed bale helmet with 35th Infantry Division liner. The USM1 fixed bale front seam shell is in overall very nice condition. Retaining over 95% of its factory applied green finish. Some wear along the stainless steel band. It retains its full factory applied web straps with black painted hardware. Shell is marked on the interior with lot number « 749C » and remnants of a former serial number in white paint. The helmet liner is period painted with the 35th Infantry division emblem along the front. Manufactured by « FIRESTONE ». Small in diameter and painted in a two step process. White circle background with stencil for the blue painted ascent. Period age and crazing can be seen in the detailed close up photos provided below. The liner is in very good condition showing wear and some small sections missing along the perimeter. The interior is almost complete and nicely well lived in, grease and stained evenly throughout. The early adjustable sweatband is present with good dark brown leather intact. Chinstrap is present and shows use. Engraved with the letter « P » along the left side. A unit that show action from Normandy until the liberation of Germany, passing through the Belgian Ardennes during the Battle of the Bulge in the Bastogne area. A nice and desirable set !
