15th USAAF named and identified B-10 flight jacket, S/Sgt. George A. Setser, « Hangar Annie »

Description
A period standard issue B-10 USAAF flight jacket. The jacket belonged to « S/Sgt George A. Setser », Aerial Gunner aboard « Hangar Annie », 15th Air Force, 484th Bomb Group, 825th Bomb Squadron. « Hangar Annie » was based at Torretto airfield, Foggia, Italy. The jacket is in nice combat used and worn condition. The front retains its full factory applied and functional zipper manufactured by « CONMAR ». The airmen name and bomb wings in leather along with the unit patch is nicely machine straight stitched on the upper left front. Rarer light coloured fur collar is complete and in very good condition. Waist band and cuffs are original to the jacket but show nice everyday use. The back of the jacket retains a large oval hand painted image of « HANGAR ANNIE ». A pin up inspired painted featuring a voluptuous model with short brown hair and blue eyes. It is period stitched right through the jacket. Some minor folding and wear marks but the artwork remains in really good overall condition. Partial ASN printed inside the jacket « S-3104 ». Manufactured tag is present and slightly readable. Overall a really nice and unique B-10 named and identified jacket. The Fifteenth Air Force drew its operational forces from heavy bombers of the IX Bomber Command, the strategic bomber command of the Ninth Air Force which was relocating to the United Kingdom to become a tactical air force in the European Theater of Operations, the Twelfth Air Force, and by a diversion of groups originally intended for the Eighth Air Force. Mainly operating out of bases in southern Italy, the Fifteenth Air Force, along with the Eighth Air Force and RAF Bomber Command, became the instruments used by the Allies to carry the strategic air offensive to Axis occupied Europe and Germany.
