Description

A rather early and highly desirable SS issued and unit marked pony fur tornister or backpack. These are the example commonly seen in the early videos worn by members of the first units and divisions. Classic example manufactured from a combination of pony fur, leather and heavy feldgrau green linen fabric. Straps remain complete and fully present. As with most early pieces of equipment before standardization this tornister is profusely marked. Maker marked on the leather straps and dated « 1936 ». Along the exterior leather straps « 2.4.SS T St ». Also marked « VASS 1936 ». Interior unit marked « 2.SSTV 4 ». Retains both early black fabric SS regulation tags. The tornister remains in excellent complete condition and would be the proper example to display with an Allgemeine display. Choice.
