Description
An early factory production WWII USM1 helmet featuring front seam fixed bales with a matching « Hawley » manufactured liner. The set retains its original factory sewn khaki colored straps and featuring early brass hardware. The exterior if the shell is near mint unissued with only some normal storage wear around the steel rim and one small area of light rust from storage. Paint rates in at approximately 96%. The helmet retains its original issued early « Hawley » liner. The liner is in excellent shape. Complete with all webbing present. Crisp, clean and strong grayish rayon webbing complete. Leather half sweatband is present and all intact. No cracks to the fragile cardboard liner or rips in the OD green cloth covering. The helmet and liner are both stamped in several areas with the soldiers initials that was issued the helmet « JCS ». The liner retains its very rare and hardly seen chinstrap still original attached. Complete, supple leather and with the adjustable length buckle present. A very choice extremely high quality set that has always been together since it was issued in WWII.
