Extremely rare Third Reich Judge’s robe and cap set
Description
Remarkable and extremely rare ensemble comprising the judicial robe and cap belonging to a German judge during the Third Reich period. The robe is constructed from a black cotton and rayon blend and remains in generally very good condition, with some moth damage. The cuffs are particularly wide and are fashioned in black velvet. The collar is likewise lined in black velvet, which extends down both sides of the front closure. All original buttons remain present. Positioned on the upper right chest is a superb military-style eagle, hand-applied and embroidered in patinated silvered metallic thread. The interior collar bears the original tailor’s label « E. Bruninger – Stuttgart ». The accompanying judge’s cap is of the distinctive pattern worn by German judicial personnel. It is constructed from the same black material as the robe, with a black velvet exterior and black cloth interior. The interior retains a complete brown « Ersatz » leather sweatband. An exceptionally scarce and rarely encountered Third Reich judicial ensemble, particularly noteworthy in its completeness and overall condition.
