German cavalry / mounted personal storage contents pack, « Packtasche 40 ». Light brown leather manufactured example. Complete with all straps, loops and saddle mounting hooks. In near mint condition, supple and showing only light storage wear. Nicely maker marked and dated « 1942 ». The backpack 40 can be attached to the saddle with the specific attachment or be worn on the back of the soldier with the special cavalry Y-straps. A scarcer piece of cavalry equipment.
