German Heer infantry crusher cap, « combat worn / issued example »

Description
A period German Heer Infantry pipped crusher cap. A true and factory issued example. Piped in white for Infantry. The cap's body is manufactured from a nice early feldgrau finer wool material. The cap has definitely seen combat and actual front line field use. Soiling, staining and a beautiful lived in look are nicely present on the cap. It has held up fairly nice condition wise and most importantly retains its « BeVo » flatwire insignia. Insignia is period machine zig-zag stitched. The visor itself is still slightly pliable and exhibits light crazing throughout its top surface. No tears or rips on the exterior but shows gentle nap loss and some staining along the high marks of the body. Adjustable officers' chincord is present and still attached but shows use and wear. The interior of the crusher cap is what a collector wants to see on an issued combat worn piece. Manufactured with a khaki tan ersatz leather type sweatband. Still factory sewn and maintained in place with lots of wear and areas missing over the years. Completely unrestored and untouched. Oil and other natural grim present amongst the complete stitching. Rayon lining is now a toned golden hue. No tears to the lining but soiling present. Original celluloid sweatshield is present and machine zig-zag stitched. Sized in roughly a « 57 ». This particular crusher cap in Infantry piping and with this true combat wear make it a very desirable and highly sought after piece of German headgear. A Selected Offering.
