German late-war accessory box for issued Wehrmacht lanterns - repurposed for medic use. Stamped steel construction in original factory finish tan paint. Tan paint rates in over 99%. Maker marked « ojx ». Red Cross painted over the markings. These boxes would contain spare parts for the field lantern. Repurposed for medical use before the war's end to be wall mounted for easier visibility. Rare and very desirable field lantern accessory.
