German Luftwaffe fighter bomber structural side panel section

Description
This is a German Luftwaffe fighter bomber structural side panel section. Early war produced example from aluminum. It retains almost all of its original factory paint and letter designation. Main exterior base paint is a dark grayish blue. The Balkan Cross is factory painted in white and black paint. The unit designation is painted in a mustard yellow and is either the letter « F » or « R ». Overall surface condition is excellent and in its original state with normal scuffs and scraps. The reverse of the panel shows the factory green paint along with possibly a hand painted Werk number with the remaining section in its natural unpainted finish. Structurally the panel is extremely solid, light in weight, and retains all its exterior/exterior rivets. Exhibits nicely trimmed edges around the perimeter where it was removed from the crashed aircraft. This is a fairly large size example measuring 120 x 80 centimeters. The section is a period recovered souvenir by an Australian veteran during the Battle of England. Not a ground recovered example and has surfaced only recently from the estate of the Australian veteran. Truly a rare and historic artifact and the centerpiece of any museum or private collection.
