German M16 transitional Medics combat helmet
Description
A very interesting helmet. Being original produced during WWI, this helmet was later reissued as a Heer single decal with depot level refurbishment to include the liner. Hastily pressed into service the liner is void of washers on the split pins. It was later reissued again as a medics helmet. Period photographs show this type of combination. The helmets exterior features a nice coat of white paint with the application of a centered red cross along the top. Normal scuffs and scraps are present with some wear along the rim and ear lugs. Evidence of the decals can be seen flacking and present underneath the white coat. The paint has a nice matte feel and shows evidence of drips in certain areas. The interior is untouched and undisturbed. Light brown supple leather early aluminum liner is tightly secured and retains its drawstring. Chinstrap is not fully present. The helmet is named along the back skirt with the same white paint used on the exterior to « Fitzner ». A very nice and desirable medics helmet. Original German Medic helmets are extremely difficult to find !!!
