A US veteran bring back group that was found last year by Lt Colonel Rudolph P Munz / Serial number 0-234685 / HQ Fifth Army Intelligence in Italy. This particular group consists of ship home box, camouflage paratrooper helmet, and some small various effects belonging to the Lieutenant Colonel.
The helmet is an « ET68 » with a lot number of « 151 ». The helmet is completely undisturbed and untouched since it was brought back from the Italian campaign. Exterior has a beautiful matte finish in two-tone camouflage paint of known tan and green colors. All spanner bolts present and retain paint. Some combat wear, scuffs and dings are present. Decal is visible under the paint. The liner is complete and in an untouched state. Early aluminum liner band is also present. Never has been cleaned or conditioned. Dust, dirt, and debris are present even what looks like mud. A piece of string is still attached on the back chinstrap, it is a piece of the camouflage net. Field added threading on the male chinstrap snap is also a very nice feature that doesn’t allow it to move up and down along the strap. Markings on the liner are hard to read but present. The soldier has engraved its name on the inner skirt, next to the helmet size. Overall one of the best groupings that has ever come to market.
Mail home box is a german manufactured storage case that the helmet was sent back to the US. It was been painted in white paint along the top lid where Lt. Col. MUNZ added his mail home address to the states. Included are some personal affects with his name, ribbon bars, and a really interesting field-made funeral shash Iron Cross. Some paper work including the capture document mentioning the helmet and other effects he brought back.
Of significant importance and truly a unique one of a kind offering.
