German MG34/42 optical sight with case, « dhq »
Description
Very nice German MG34/42 optical sight with case. This is a « dhq » coded sight (J.D. Möller G.m.b.H., Wedel) with serial number « 18280 » that has a blue « + » on the periscope denoting cold weather lubrication, and retains 97% of the original tan painted finish. The precise yet robust adjustment knobs and instrumentation are all fully functional and the optic is clear with a crisp triangular reticle. The black rubber eye cup is unbroken with a still flexible edge. Included with the sight is the original metal carry case, retaining over 95% of the tan factory paint and marking « M.G.Z.40 ». It is also nicely marked with the makers code « hry », the Waffenamt and dated 1944. The inside is in untouched condition. This is a very fine and usable example of a German machine gun sight and would make a fabulous addition to one's MG.34/42 tripod mount. They are really hard to find in this condition.
