German MKb42 pouch, « JWa 43 »
Description
A superb and rare late MKb42 produced assault rifle ammo pouch. Left side example. Exhibits features that would become the standard amongst the majority of pouches produced later on during the war. Constructed from tan canvas with sections trimmed in the classic red stripes. Green web straps that are sewn to each compartment. Tan pressed cardboard « Presstoff » closure flaps. Compartment covers are nicely lined with leather. Early quality « LUX » hardware for the back strap and made from an earlier better quality dark green web strap. And a thicker leather for the cover on the extra compartment side pouch with a « WUK 6 » snap. Connector strap is made from a forest green ersatz material and in full length. Stamped ink markings along the two back web loops are present and readable. Including assault rifle designation « MKb42 », Waffenamt, makers code and the date « JWa 43». The bottom of each magazine compartment is factory lined with a thicker higher quality brown leather. Overall condition of the pouch is lightly used with some minor storage wear. A very scarce pouch rarely offered on the market!
