Description

Wehrpass of soldier Heinrich Sauter from the Gebirgs-Artillerie-Regiment 79. He first took part in the Polish campaign, then the French campaign, before being deployed to the Balkans and later to the Eastern Front. The document contains several interesting entries related to anti-partisan operations in Serbia, Montenegro, and Greece. Sauter received the Assault Badge and the West Wall Medal in 1940, the Iron Cross First Class (EK I) in 1941, as well as the Eastern Front Medal. During his service, he gradually rose through the ranks: he was promoted to Unteroffizier, became a Funktruppführer, and also served as an instructor. The Wehrpass also mentions his use of the 7.5 cm mountain gun, the M15 Skoda, and the Gebirgsgeschütz 36. On the back of the booklet, a close-combat calendar has been preserved, recording 15 days of combat between 29/06/1941 and 11/10/1942.
