Description
A German paratrooper Fallschirmjäger splinter camouflage drawstring helmet cover. Last factory made model from a thin material splinter camouflage printed cloth. The helmet cover is in overall good condition. A real combat worn example with several period modifications. Drawstring is present and original to the cover. Some slight separation around the rim is present. Brown foliage tape material is partially present. Cover is most likely a « D-Day » captured example that was famous with the « Regiment 6 » in the area. Numerous photos show training in the upcoming months with these covers being converted into facemasks. The cover has had eye and mouth holes added. Not just cut but properly machine sewn around to prevent further fraying. The cloth itself shows use with soiling and staining and all the details one would expect to see on a true combat worn example. The helmet cover is photographed on a size « 66 » helmet but will also fit a size « 68 ». Examples of this type are extremely rare and very desirable.
