German RA35 model 34 8cm heavy mortar sight, « Granatwerfer 34 »
Description
The 81mm model 34 mortar Granatwerfer 34 (s.Gr.W.34) was the standard German heavy infantry mortar of WW2. This is a fine example of the panoramic sight for the mortar, which would be mounted on the left hand side. A rather obscure piece of equipment and difficult to find. Set is the storage metal tan factory case for the sight of an « Richtaufsatz 35 für 8cm. Grenatwerfer 34 » that is abbreviated in black stencil paint along the top of the box. Nicely maker marked « jvb » with retaining over 95% of its factory tan paint. Wooden place settings are complete in the interior and retain their horse hair padding. The actual sight is in excellent condition and complete with all dials and levers. Maker marked « jvb ». Overall an excellent set in great condition.
