German three-tone camouflage portable field radio transceiver set, « Feldfu.b1 »
Description
A superb and a extremely rare German portable field radio transceiver set « FELDFUNKSPRECHER B1 » in Normandy three-tone camouflage finish. This radio was found in the 1970s in a house on the banks of the Seine in Rouen (France), it was abandoned by the troops during the retreat from Normandy. It remained in the same collection until our acquisition in May 2024. It is in overall very good condition and retains over 85% of the camouflage finish. A normal to moderate amount of wear present. Paint loss around the edges. Made from a very light weight bakelite material, a small damage present as well as a crack in the body (see pictures). The set retains all its original interior straps, connecting cable, flexible antenna maker marked and dated « K&R43 », and the rare backpack support strap which mounts directly on the transceiver to provide support on the wearer's back. Data plate is present with its serial number and year of manufacture « 1941 ». The radios top mounting hooks and carry handle are present. An extremely rare set and highly desirable in this condition!
