Kriegsmarine EM/NCO overseas service cap, « 1936 Berlin Olympics »
Description
A period German Kriegsmarine EM/NCO service cap. Textbook factory produced example from a dark navy blue wool. Retains period hand applied « BeVo » eagle and cockade still attached. The caps body is in overall very good condition with a very few small moth damages. Interior is nicely lined in a classic rich black linen material. No marking visible but it is a size « 56 ». The overseas cap comes with an enameled « Olympic rings » insignia attached on the left side with some light surface loss. This practice was apparently used on some ships and U-Boats where the commanders were members of the Class of 1936, the year of the Berlin Olympics. A choice lightly worn example.
