Late-war German MG optical sight carrier case set, « M.G.Z.40 »

Description
A nice German MG optical sight carrier case set. The case is made from sheet steel and nicely painted in a tan coat. Proper weapons scope designation along the top is still present in black paint, « M.G.Z.40 ». The metal closure catch is fully functional and still retains its factory applied short web pull tab. The carrier case retains both the original back heavy attachment support straps. The scope case is marked with the maker’s code « hrv » and the Waffenamt. A Roman numeral number two « II » is painted in green on the lid. This same paint is present on its original web carrying strap. The interior compartments are present. The two tinted filters for the optics, the rare cleaning brush and the original cleaning cloth are also present. This set has never been in a collection before, it comes from a house in the village of Virton in the south of Belgium. A nice example of a very rare and desirable MG accessory.
