M35 Heer double decal US Vet art helmet, « OMAHA BEACH »
Description
A classic German M1935 Heer double decal combat helmet with Vet art. Captured combat helmet during the war and painted with the locations they visited and fought in. The front of the helmet has « NEW YORK / TEXAS / CALIFORNIA and U.S.A. » painted in an arched motif. The names of the countries are painted horizontal and going around the entire helmet with the cities and important locations painted vertically. « IRELAND , SCOTLAND, ENGLAND, FRANCE » and some of the major cities or locations include « BELFAST, OXFORD, LIVERPOOL, OMAHA BEACH, ISIGNY, CARENTAN, LEMANS , LUNEVILLE ». The helmet is an « NS66 » with an obscured lot number. It retains the Heer decal in a nice golden hue and has been partially covered by paint. Rating in at roughly 85%. The national tri-color decal is present underneath the paint. Interior is in worn and with nice dark brown leather liner. Early chinstrap is present and nicely maker marked and dated « W. BENEKE ALTONA 1936 ». Nicely named along the back of the skirt to « HOTTERMANN ». Overall a very nice and highly desirable US vet art helmets. One of the nicest we have been able to offer!
