M35 Heer ex-winter camouflage combat helmet with leather carrier rig, « named »

Description
A superb M1935 Heer winter white wash camouflage combat helmet with leather carrier rig. The helmet is an « EF64 » with a lot number of « 20664 ». The exterior shell is a standard reissue with a textured coating of feldrau dark blue-grey paint. The exterior has received a coating of winter camouflage paint in the form of a white-wash paste application. The addition of leather carrier rig was added wartime and remains original to this helmet. The condition of the exterior paint shows moderate use to includes normal scuffs and scraps. Plenty of rim wear and retains about 20% of the former white-wash winter camouflage finish. The white-wash is present around the leather carrier band where it wasn't exposed to the elements as easily. The helmet seems to have orange/rust colored areas. This is not rust but the oxidation of the white-wash overtime. Split pins remain intact and tightly secured to the liner while retaining 90% of their original paint finish. The leather carrier is in very good condition. Complete, supple but showing actual field use with the main attachment clip on the back skirt still in place. The back clip is a medium duty type that would have been used for mounting or securing the helmet onto field equipment or the side of an armored vehicle for example. The interior of the helmet remains untouched and undisturbed. Retains its full leather liner with early aluminum band. Chinstrap is complete and supple, nicely maker marked, the drawstring is absent. The apple green paint is seen around the skirt of the helmet. Also along the back in white paint the name of the former soldier is clearly painted « Stab. Feldw Oppermann ». An interesting detail is the drip remains of the whitewash finish along the front lid of the helmet is still present. A difficult to find helmet rig and reminiscent of the early campaigns at the start of the war. A great and unique set !!!
