M35 Heer three-tone sand camouflage chicken wire combat helmet

Description
Exceptional M1935 Heer half basket three-tone sand camouflage wire combat helmet. This helmet was found many years ago in the town of « Scheveningen » in Holland, located at the coast by the North Sea. The entire coast was equipped with bunkers. To see its configuration, it could be a helmet having equipped a soldier of the coastal artillery. The helmet is an « SE64 » with a lot number of « 075 ». The helmet's exterior features a period hand applied camouflage coating of the standard three colors of tan, brown and green in a sand mixture paint. Nicely applied with rather good vibrant and contrasting colors. Nice amount and the proper type of wear for this particular paint medium. Areas around the rim, some scrapes and scuffs and wear along the dome. The period application of a rather obscure half basket chicken wire has been added to the helmet. Mostly encountered version are both basket and securing wire in the same metal but this example is retained in place by an aluminum cable wire. The wire was painted with brown paint to reduce its shiny appearance, it still retains a good part of it. This combination has been seen on another similar helmet found and acquired from the Normandy peninsula. Proper wear and interaction of the wire against the painted surface of the helmet along with other highly detailed photos can be seen below. The helmet's interior remains in rather very nice lived-in condition. The leather liner system is complete with a supple leather liner. Ink stamped with the size « 56 ». Drawstring present. The chinstrap is complete but has one cut in the leather. Original to the helmet and still maker marked and dated « G.SCHIELE LOBURG 1940 ». The helmet is nicely named along the back skirt in a white oil based paint to « RICHTER ». A very attractive and desirable camouflage German combat helmet. Choice.
