M35 Luftwaffe double decal combat helmet, « US GI bringback »
Description
A superb early M1935 Luftwaffe double decal combat helmet. The helmet is an « SE68 » with a lot number of « 7765 ». The helmet's exterior features a classic semi-matte feldgrau blue factory applied paint finish. Over 95% present with some small scuffs and scrapes present. Both decals are complete and intact. Luftwaffe decal 96% complete and the tri-color shield at 99% complete. Both show some slight toning from natural age. The interior retains an early leather liner in overall good condition. Leather chin strap and drawstring are absent. Three tongues show minor damage. The leather liner is stamped « 60 » for size. Split-pins are missing the washers but the liner is original to the helmet. Of interesting note it retains a period handwritten by ink pen of the US soldier's name, serial number and return address. « Warren Sexton 4106 Dallas ». Overall a nice early Luftwaffe combat helmet.
