M35 Luftwaffe double decal half basket chicken wire combat helmet, « Q64 »
Description
A stunning and unique M1935 Luftwaffe double decal half-basket chicken wire combat helmet. The helmet is a « Q64 » with a lot number of « 763 ». The helmet's exterior retains 97% of its factory blue finish. The finish remains in very nice condition showing minor combat wear to include scuffs and scrapes. Luftwaffe decal and tri-color national shield on the wearer's right side. Both decals rate in over 95%. Showing light signs of use with minor scrapes. Period applied half basket chicken wire has been added to the helmet. Classic example composing of two types of wire, chicken wire and bailing. Both have been period painted in blue. More details in the photos below. Oxidation is present along some areas.The helmet's interior is complete, leather is a lighter brown, supple and in excellent condition still retaining its original color. Complete with drawstring and ink stamped for size along one of the tongues « 57 ». A few tongues are damaged. Dome stamp is present and dated « 1939 ». The leather chinstrap is nicely maker marked and dated along the tip « G. SINGER KLATTAU 1942 ». Former owner name is present on the leather « Engel ». This helmet was donated to the KW Line Museum in Chaumont-Gistoux, Belgium, in the 1980s and came from a house that was located near an anti-aircraft battery defending Brussels at the time. A very rare and highly desirable half basket chicken wire helmet in great condition.
