M35 Luftwaffe double decal tan camouflage combat helmet, « BASTOGNE / U.S. veteran provenance »
Description
A stunning and rare M1935 Luftwaffe early double decal tan late-war camouflage combat helmet. The helmet is an « ET64 » with a lot number of « 3352 ». The helmet's exterior has received a classic late-war spray tan camouflage application. The finish remains in very nice condition showing minor combat wear to include scuffs and scrapes. Early snake leg Luftwaffe first pattern decal visible and rating over 90%. The tri-color national shield on the wearer's right side is visible under a heavy spray coating of tan paint. More details in the photos below. Split pins are intact, tightly secured and retain their paint. Interior of the helmet is untouched and in as-found condition. Complete with nice brown leather liner, early complete unit marked chinstrap and drawstring present. The helmet retains a hand-sewn cloth tag on the reverse of the liner to include the unit and name of the former soldier but barely readable. The helmet was captured in Bastogne during the Battle of the Bulge in December of 1944 by Private Joe Ruocco of the 28th Infantry Division « BLOODY BUCKET ». A select offering !
