M36 Waffen-SS tailored combat tunic, « SS-Untersturmführer »
Description
A period German regulation M1936 combat tunic tailor for a « SS-Untersturmführer » of the Waffen-SS. The tunic is made from an early feldgrau base wool slightly softer to the touch than its later counterparts. It has been period modified with the special addition of cuffs and a pointed dark forest green collar. Exterior remains in rather very nice condition. Additional loops for combat awards are present along the pocket. Eastern Front ribbon is hand sewn to the tunic's button hole. « BeVo » sleeve eagle is present and tightly machine zig-zag stitched along the proper position of the left arm. Minor small repairs along the bottom upper pocket and some random staining on the wool in certain areas as detailed in the photos below. The tunic retains a set of machine straight stitched applied collar tabs and a set of officers white piped infantry shoulder boards. The tunic's interior is complete and lined in a darker tan ribbed linen material. Some additional sections of wool fabric are hand sewn to close the belt support holes. The tunic is ink stamped twice. First set of stamps are the tunics size and date of issue « 6/40 ». The second lightly visible set is probably the tailor's name and location. Overall a really nice and very desirable tunic that would display nicely complete with headgear, belt and awards. One sharp tunic!
