M38 German paratrooper two-tone camouflage helmet, « Battle Damaged »

Description
A superb M1938 German paratrooper two-tone camouflage combat helmet with battle damage. It was found years ago in the « Mons Pocket » area in Belgium. The helmet is a « ET68 » with a lot number of « 39 », it is in overall very good condition. The helmets exterior features a two-tone camouflage spray application of light green and darker green paint. Several Fallschirmjäger helmets with the identical camouflage pattern are known and most of them are coming from the « Mons Pocket » area. Matte colors and untouched in its originals state. The camouflage finish of the helmet shows normal use to include a few scuffs and scraps along the top and rim of the helmet. The Luftwaffe decal is present, coming through the camouflage finish gives it a great look. Battle damage on the right side, one lucky soldier with no damage to the liner or the wearer at the time. Several period photos show examples like this still continued to be worn in combat. Interesting feature, one of the spanner bolt has been period replaced with a regular bolt. The helmets interior remains untouched and undisturbed. Zinc metal liner band, black inner dome pad, the leather is in overall very good worn condition and still supple. It is nicely ink stamped with sizes and maker’s details. The rank and name of the soldier are written in pencil on the leather, but also written on the back skirt. The chinstraps are complete and in overall very good condition. This battle damaged helmet is in really nice untouched condition.
