M40 German sawdust textured camouflage combat helmet, « Gren. Moritz »
A very nice M1940 Heer German combat helmet that has been camouflaged in a textured feldgrau finish. The helmet is a « Q64 » with an unreadable lot number. The helmet's exterior featured a rather thick applied textured feldgrau grey paint. It covers the entire surface of the helmet and rates at 96%. Normal to light amounts of scuffs and scraps. Proper rim wear is present. Split pins are intact and retain the vast majority of the same textured finish. They are secured to the helmet. The helmet's interior is untouched and retains its original liner system. The leather liner is in good condition. Fairly supple and retains a light brown color. The liner is ink stamped « 57 » for size along one of the tongue tips. Drawstring and chinstrap are present, nicely maker marked and dated « 1939 ». Oxidation is present around the interior. The helmet is named to the former owner in white paint along the back skirt « Gren. Moritz ». A very nice and desirable example of a complete sawdust textured German combat helmet.
