M40 Heer sand textured three-tone camouflage combat helmet, « Kustenartillerie »

Description
This is a unique M1940 Heer sand camouflage three-tone brush painted combat helmet. The helmet is an « ET64 » with a lot umber of « 377 ». The helmets exterior retains a truly unique and superb hand applied camouflage finish. Sand in combination with three main colors of green, brown and tan paint mixed in give this helmet a unique look. One of the most striking camouflage helmets we have had the pleasure of offering. This is another type of camouflage finish that can be attributed to the costal artillery units stationed in France along the « Atlantic Wall ». Normal wear with typical scuffs, scraps and paint loss seen on sand camouflage helmets. Proper rim wear. All split pins present with part of their finish remaining intact. No evidence of decals can be seen under the thicker camouflage application. A small shrapnel perforated the front of the helmet. The helmets interior is untouched and undisturbed. Leather liner is in overall good and supple condition, the drawstring is missing. The original leather chin strap is present, early type with aluminum buckle, it is weakened in one place (see photos), maker is not present. The soldier’s name « Merker » is painted in white on the back skirt. The helmet was sourced out of the woodwork a few years ago in Lille area, France. A beautiful and truly top shelf camouflage helmet that rarely makes it to the open market.
