Description
Unique and beautiful M40 German Heer single decal combat helmet that was captured and decorated by the US 29th Infantry Division. The helmet is a choice and early manufactured M40 combat helmet. It is an « ET64 » with a low lot number of « 187. Decal is roughly 97% with very minor wear. The interior is excellent and shows very little wear. Leather remains supple and retains its original light tan color. Chinstrap is absent. A nice crisp dome stamp is present. Along the back skirt the helmet is named to the former owner which has not been researched. The liner is secured properly and remains untouched/undisturbed. The exterior retains of the nicest veteran decorated helmets we have seen. The paint has survived and been stored properly over the decades. The front shows the divisional unit emblem along with the famous motto of the 29th « LET'S GO ». Crossed rifles and made out to the 116th Infantry regiment. The famous and some infamous towns and city locations the unit was involved in combat decorate the helmet itself. The top of the helmet retains the names of the countries the Division was in. Overall a choice and extremely desirable example of a top shelf U.S. Veteran Art helmet. An only recently surfaced example.
