M1940 Kriegsmarine Tropical Service Cap. What make this rarer than most caps is the fact that is has actually been field worn and used. Manufactured in a light tan cotton material, apple green painted grommets in flat mate paint. Maker marked by a known French Manufacture located in Paris, size marked 58 1/2, larger size. During the occupation many local manufactures produced material for the Germans to include uniforms, headgear, and equipment. Minor soiling and staining in a few places. Insignia is nicely applied. The eagle is hand sewn and the cockade is machine applied. The interior shows more use than the exterior. Made from a golden-wheat colored rayon material. Soling along the front and some small rips and pulls. Period used and worn headgear is getting tougher to find !
