M40 Luftwaffe Normandy three-tone spray camouflage combat helmet
Description
A superb M1940 Luftwaffe three-tone « Normandy » spray camouflage combat helmet. The helmet is an « ET64 » with a lot number that is not fully readable « **72 ». The helmet's exterior features a very nice classic three-tone « Normandy » spray application. Matte in feel and covering over 95% of the helmet's exterior. Split pins are intact and tight affixed. Some normal combat wear to include scuffs and scrapes is present and light oxidation. Of interesting note is the period attached helmet net hooks that retain some paint from when the helmet was painted. The Luftwaffe decal is visible under the camouflage. The interior remains in untouched and as-found condition. Complete and matching the overall look for the helmet. Leather is supple and ink stamped «57» for size. Stamped « 925 » for probably a rooster number of the former soldier. Early type with the squared chinstrap hooks. Original drawstring and unmarked leather chinstrap in place. Dust, dirt and oxidation can be seen but yet gives this helmet a beautiful look. The helmet was found several years ago in the attic of a house in the city of Lille, France. Overall one of the nicest helmets with period attached camouflage hooks in place. Very hard and highly desirable helmet in today's market.
