Description
Superb M1940 Luftwaffe single decal helmet with period applied bailing wire. Helmet is a « SE64 » with lot number « 8977 ». The helmet has never been cleaned and remains in untouched condition. Of the earliest production model 1940 helmets. Exterior shows real combat use with several areas of scuffs and dings. Period applied bailing wire is nicely hand applied and secured in four locations on the interior. Luftwaffe second pattern decal is present and rates over 90% with evidence of crazing around the decal. Interior is untouched and in the same general condition as the exterior. Shows a well lived in liner still present is the ink stamp of « 56 ». Liner is still supple, stained, and retaining its original drawstring. Owners initials on the liner which matches the name in white paint along the back skirt « ARMBRUST ». Chinstrap is original to the helmet, maker marked but cannot be made out but nicely « L.B.A. » along the half way mark. A unique combat wire helmet.
