M40 Luftwaffe tropical camouflage combat helmet, « untouched / battle damage »
Description
A true combat M1940 Luftwaffe tropical camouflage combat helmet. The helmet is an « EF64 » with a lot number of « 808 II ». The helmet is untouched and in as-found condition. Part of a recent U.S. veteran bring-back grouping to include other decaled, battle damaged and tropical helmets. This example shows a nice tan spray application of the exterior. Scuffs, scrapes and just plan dirt covers the exterior of the helmet. Second pattern Luftwaffe decal ghosting under the tropical paint. Large concussion battle damage along the top of the helmet is also present. Split pins complete, tightly secured and retain some of the camouflage tan paint. The interior matches the exterior of the helmet. Complete and in its original state. Leather liner is intact. Chinstrap is complete and fully present, maker marked and dated, slightly stiff. Drawstring is also present and still period tied. One of the harder to find untouched tropical combat helmets with true battle damage. A neat example !
