M40 three-tone « Normandy » sawdust textured spray camouflage combat helmet, « ex-netted »

Description
A truly striking example of a M1940 three-tone Normandy sawdust textured spray camouflage combat helmet. The helmet is an « EF64 » with an unreadable lot number. The helmet's exterior features a choice three-tone spray finish. Originally the helmet was camouflaged with yellow paint and sawdust than later followed by its camouflage application in brown and green colors. Large spray bursts with contrasting and vibrancy present. Matte and semi rough textured feel. Normal scuffs and scraps present. Split pins complete, tightly secure and retain their finish as well. In the details photo below you can clearly see the spray splatter of both secondary colors brown and green. The interior remains untouched and as complete as possible. Remnants of the former net are present that would have covered the helmet's surface. Chinstrap is absent. Leather liner is complete, untouched and retains its drawstring. The net is placed all around the perimeter and shows oxidation and accumulation over the decades. Both the liner and the back of the helmet are named to the same soldier's « LOBSTEIN ». The name on the skirt is done in a yellow paint possibly the same used on the exterior. Of interesting note the dome of the helmet seems to be retaining a pabbing like material for extra comfort. A top shelf camouflage helmet like this rarely comes up to market and one of the best we have been able to acquire over the years. Choice.
