M40 Waffen-SS ex-double decal combat helmet, « Q66 »
Description
A very nice M1940 Waffen-SS ex-double decal combat helmet. The helmet is a « Q66 » with a low lot number of « 404 ». The helmet's exterior retains over 88% of its factory applied feldgrau finish. Normal wear around the rim with minor scuffs and scraps along the sides. Waffen-SS decal is present and rates in at 96%. Crazing and minor scraps are present. The party shield decal has been period removed. Split pins are all present, complete and tightly secured. Interior is complete and in very nice matching conditions. Leather liner shows wear yet retains its natural color. Some discoloration around the rim is present. Drawstring complete. Leather chinstrap is present, complete and marked along the tip with the maker and year of manufacture « 1942 ». Some light dust around the perimeter is present as well. We purchased this helmet from an old collection here in the ardennes. Overall a very nice and now difficult to find Waffen-SS combat helmet!
