Description

A standard issue M1942 Heer combat helmet with a period applied cloth band. A helmet with a rare configuration and only recently sourced from a private in Germany. The helmet is a « NS64 » with a lot number of « 5405 ». The helmet shows a nice untouched exterior with a slate-grey feldgrau factory applied finish. Slight semi-rough to the touch. Split pins are complete, fully painted and tightly secured to the helmet. A period applied type of cloth band is tightly secured around the helmet and held tightly in place by an adjustable buckle along the back to include a make-shift loop. Debris and some oxidation along the front lip from decades of the leather chinstrap being not moved. Interior is complete and in untouched condition. Leather liner is somewhat bright and rather supple. Retains its original drawstring and nicely ink stamped with size « 57 ». Liner retains a partial initial to the former owner « F.H. » and also along the chinstrap attachment with the same initials located there.The chinstrap is complete, maker marked « O. REICHEL LENGEFELD » and original to the helmet . It looks and has never been removed from its current position. A rarer and desirable camouflage band combat helmet.
