Description

This is an exceptional M1942 Heer geometric pattern sand textured camouflage combat helmet. The helmet is an « EF66 » with a lot number of « 1279 ». The exterior of the helmet retains period applied camouflage that is executed in a rarely seen geometric block pattern. This unique sand camouflage texture consists of a standard green, tan and dark brown. Sand was mixed into the paint before it was applied. Normal wear on the exterior to include scuffs and scraps. Nice paint brush strokes are clearly and easily seen as is the case for a hand painted example. Helmet retains all three split pins with the camouflage finish still present on them. The helmets interior is in its original state. Leather liner is with some minor flaking around the rim but supple overall. Ink stamped for size 58 and named to « Lt Guth » with some other writing that is illegible. The helmet is missing its drawstring and retains only its partial chinstrap. This particular helmet was purchase directly from the family of the veteran in late 2018. A choice example of a highly sought after pattern. Top shelf camouflage helmet.
