M42 Heer/Waffen-SS combat helmet, « Volkssturm / ckl64 »
Description
A very nice and very late M1942 Heer/Waffen-SS German combat helmet. It was found about ten years ago in the Belgian Ardennes, near Bütgenbach. The helmet is a « ckl64 » with a lot number of « 4643 ». The helmet's exterior is in overall excellent condition. A nice and pleasing amount of wear to include some light scuffs, light oxidation and dust buildup. It retains over 85% of its dark late-war feldgrau factory paint. The split pins are intact and tightly secured to its liner. The helmet's interior is untouched and in as-found condition. It shows a late-war type civilian helmet liner commonly seen amongst Luftschutz helmets. In very nice supple condition. Full leather chinstrap is intact and complete. Helmet is ink stamped for size « 55 » and marked with the « Wolfsangel » or wolfshook in pencil. Dust and some debris present around the liner and helmet. A very late helmet that was factory complete and pressed into service during the very last few months of the war!
