M42 netted German combat helmet, « ckl66 »
Description
A superb and rare M1942 German late-war netted combat helmet. This helmet was recently found in an old house in Soignies, Belgium. It is a late-war « ckl66 » with a lot number of « 3307 ». The helmet's exterior features a period application of heavy rope cord and three metal wire attachments. The exterior surface shows oxidation and prolonged storage with exposure to the elements. Rust and paint loss is clearly evident. Overall it gives the helmet a very nice late-war true combat look. The detailed photos below clearly show that this has been on the helmet since the war's end. The interior shows a well used yet untouched and rather complete liner. Leather is a little bit dry but complete in a medium tan color. Ink stamped for size along the end of the tongue « 59 », Chinstrap is present, complete lightly stamped. Drawstring is present and tied down. A harder to find and very desirable example that would have been used on the front lines.
