Pair of very early MP38u40 pouches, « bnz 1940 »
Very nice and rare early matching pair of MP38u40 pouches. Constructed entirely from heavy web material in cotton and rayon. The steel D-ring attached on the upper corners and painted in blue. Made by « bnz » in 1940. This is the first type produced for tropical climates, such as North Africa and Crete. The set shows moderate wear. All metal stubs are present, functioning, and trimmed in black leather. Closure straps are tipped in metal and securely riveted in place. The back of the pouches are complete. Both pairs feature belt loops from rayon and reinforced with a black synthetic material. These pouches were commonly seen being worn by paratroopers. A difficult set of pouches to find in nice gently worn condition.
