Rare first pattern Waffen-SS helmet cover, « plane tree 1/2 »
Description
A very desirable first pattern Waffen-SS helmet cover. The cover is produced in a pattern referred to as « plane tree 1/2 » and constructed from a printed smooth linen based cotton material. The cover is in overall excellent condition showing some light to moderate wear, with two small tear and only a handful of small scattered nicks and abrasions to the fabric. It is untouched, as found. The colors remain in excellent contrasting and vivid condition. The cover also retains all of the proper features a textbook piece should have. All clips, rockers and springs are present and attached to the cover. The pictures below are displayed on a size 66 helmet, it is a size « 3 » (large). Overall a choice and very desirable early example.
