Rare M35 Heer winter whitewash camouflage combat helmet, « battle damage »
Description
A very rare M1935 Heer brush winter whitewash camouflage combat helmet with battle damage. The helmet is an « EF66 » with a lot number of « 20449 ». The helmet's exterior features what is preferred as the standard of a brush winter whitewash finish. This is a paste based heavily on natural lime that was intended to be removed rather easily when the season changed. The natural age and toning of the paint is perfect. It retains some areas of combat wear to include scuffs and scraps but overall over 94% fully present. An entry hole along the back is present for a small piece of shrapnel. Split pins intact, still retaining their whitewash finish and securely attached. Evidence of the national tri-color shield is slightly visible along one of the scratches on the wearer's right side. The helmet's interior remains untouched and in its natural as-found state. Fully complete and all matching in wear and condition. Leather liner is still supple. Retaining its drawstring and featuring decades of build up along the liner band and helmet shell. The chinstrap is the original one belonging to the helmet and is unit marked but unreadable. A small tear in the leather shows the exit of the shrapnel. The helmet is fresh to market and was originally in the former collectors hands for three decades. A very desirable and extremely difficult to find real winter whitewash helmet that would have been a common site on the early campaigns on the « Russian Front ». Choice.
