Description

Superb and very rare M1935 Luftwaffe two-tone full basket camouflage chicken wire helmet, this is a « SE64 », lot number is « 21099 ». This helmet has had the full wire applied before being brush hand painted in tan and green paint over the entire surface. Paint rates in the high 95% range, vivid and contrasting colors, what you want to see in these. All through the entire helmet you can clearly see in multiple spots where the wire has been covered and the impression of the wire can be seen in the paint. This helmet appears to have original been a reissue Luftwaffe helmet before the camouflage application to it. Liner is original to the helmet and has never been played with, in great supple condition, minimal rub marks from storage possibly. It also maintains its original drawstring. The reissue blue paint is present not only on the skirt but on the aluminum liner in a few places. It retains its original chinstrap, supple and good condition, being marked on the tip but nor readable. The name « Dannemann » is nicely painted in white paint on the back skirt. This helmet was found a few years ago in a major exhibition in the US. It is also featured in « The Camouflage Helmets of the Wehrmacht », page 240-241, which provides some more information regarding it. Simply put a stellar example rarely offered to public market!
