Rare M42 Heer single decal geometric three-tone camouflage combat helmet, « KUSTENARTILLERIE »
Description
Stunning and very rare M1942 Heer single decal geometric three-tone camouflage combat helmet. The helmet is a « hkp64 » with the lot number « 3202 ». The helmet's exterior features a desirable hand brush painted geometric camouflage scheme in the three-tone colors. Nice combat used and wear present. This includes some scuffs, scraps and chips to the paint that is covering well over 95% of the surface. In the detailed photos below the brush strokes are clearly visible. The Heer decal has nicely been painted around, rates over 97% and exhibits nice toning and crazing. Split pins intact and secured to the helmet while retaining also part of their camouflage finish. This specific camouflage can be attributed to coastal artillery. The helmet's interior is in overall good worn condition and retains its original liner system. The leather liner is in good supple condition, ink stamped with the size « 56 ». Original drawstring and leather chinstrap are present, this one is maker marked and dated. A small hole has been drilled in the back of the helmet (see photos), we do not know the reason. This helmet is published in the excellent book « German Helmet of the Second World War - Gazette des Uniformes Hors Serie N°12 », page 45. This is a unique camouflaged helmet rarely offered on the market!
